Life After “Fresh Prince”: Karyn Parsons’ New Mission

20 years after the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air finale (yes it’s been that long), Karyn Parsons is solidly in the driver’s seat of her life and her career.

As founder of the non-profit Sweet Blackberry, Karyn captures the stories of under-celebrated black Americans in sweet and endearing videos, narrated by celebrities like Alfre Woodard, Queen Latifah and Jamie Foxx.

Karyn, the daughter of a librarian, says her mother poured these remarkable stories into her whenever she discovered them. She and her mother were often surprised that so much of the history they encountered was not known. Still Karyn says it was when she had children of her own that she was motivated to action. The result has been a fulfilling masterpiece.
